General Guidelines
TRUE SPIRIT TEAM GUIDELINES
DESCRIPTION OF CHEER PROGRAMS:
1. ALL-STAR: A team that does not cheer for any sport, but is formed for the primary purpose of competing. The team works out in a private gym/studio and/or is coached by a paid professional.
2. SCHOOL: A team that is made up of official school team members or official school competition team members. All members MUST attend that school.
3. RECREATIONAL LEAGUE: A community team. Coaches are non-paid, non-professionals.
True Spirit reserves the right to separate or combine any division at any competition due to the number of teams registered for each division.
DESCRIPTION OF CHEER TEAMS:
1. CHEER: Maximum time limit for a routine is 2 ½ minutes. Routines should include: cheer/motions, jumps, tumbling, stunts/pyramids and dance. Music is allowed for the entire routine or just a portion of the routine. Routines must follow Bash Spirit General Safety and Levels Rules.
2. SHOW/EXHIBITION/SPECIAL ATHLETE:
a. SHOW TEAMS (Youth & Younger): Each participant receives a trophy. Maximum time limit for routine in 2 ½ minutes. All routines must follow TRUE SPIRIT General Safety and Levels 1-5 Rules. Warm-up times are NOT scheduled for show teams. Teams may stretch on any available floor space. NOTE: Teams must be present and perform at their scheduled time. Show teams will be scheduled either in the morning when competing teams are warming up or right before the Awards Ceremony.
b. EXHIBITION TEAMS (Junior & Older): Each participant receives a trophy. Maximum time limit for routine is 2 ½ minutes. All routines must follow TRUE SPIRIT General Safety and Levels 1-5 Rules. Warm-up times will be scheduled.
c. SPECIAL ATHLETE SHOW TEAMS: Every member must be a special needs athlete. Each participant receives a trophy. Maximum time limit for routine is 2 ½ minutes. All routines must follow TRUE SPIRIT General Safety and Levels 1-5 Rules. Warm-up times will be scheduled. Registration fees will be FREE!
d. PARENT CHALLENGE: Maximum time limit for a routine is 2 ½ minutes. Routines are performed at Open/State Championships, Small Gym Championships, National Championships and Tournament of Champions. Music may be used for a portion or all of the routine. Routines should incorporate jumps, tumbling, cheer, dance, stunts and pyramids. All routines must follow TRUE SPIRIT General Safety and Levels 1-5 Rules. (IF LEVEL 6 SKILLS ARE ATTEMPTED OR PERFORMED ON THE WARM-UP FLOOR THE ROUTINE MUST BE CHANGED BEFORE TEAM PERFORMS ON THE COMPETITION FLOOR. IF NOT WILLING TO CHANGE SKILLS TEAM WILL REVOKE RIGHT TO PERFORM.) Teams do not compete. ROUTINE MUST BE SUITABLE FOR FAMILY VIEWING! PLEASE MAKE THIS A FUN & SAFE ROUTINE. NOTE: Any parent performing on the competition floor will pay the parent team challenge fee.
